The Club has host of experienced RC Flyers (mainly with fixed wing aircraft) that are able to provide flying instruction. Prospective trainees should introduce themselves at the flying site and state their requirement for instruction. A suitable instructor will then be found who will take the trainee through the basics of preparing and operating RC aircraft. Once training has commenced, ideally, the pupil should try to stay with the same instructor although it must be born in mind that instructors are volunteers who freely give their time and do like to fly themselves.
Once the trainee has achieved a level of competence to safely take-off, fly and land, he/she will be examined for their Grade 1 proficiency rating. Having gained this, they will then be allowed to fly solo (i.e. unsupervised).
Fixed Wing Aircraft
The Club has a number of Trainer Aircraft kept at the Samlesbury club and are available for basic training. The club has a buddy box Transmitter and all of the other flight box ancillaries. All the trainee needs to provide is the fuel, time and effort.
Helicopters
Whilst still in the minority within the club there are a number of new members with some helicopter experience who will be willing to assist in setting up and ultimately flying model helicopters.
